• Complex Yet Approachable isan exhibition featuring paintings by fifteen diverse contemporary artists, all based in Southern California. Spanning three generations, these painters share a critical and creative exchange, each cognizant of one another’s work, each linked by common ideals. Paramount to their practice is the challenge of making paintings that are both rigorous and inviting. These paintings reward slow contemplation and thoughtful inspection. This exhibition explores issues of color, representation/abstraction, materiality and personal narratives that are revealed gradually. Media used includes oil, Flashe, acrylic, digital print, watercolor and inks on canvas, paper, Duralene and panel. The exhibition is curated by Quinton Bemiller and Chuck Feesago and will conclude this season’s programming at Project_210.
